Barnardo's Young Supporters Concert
Royal Albert Hall, 2nd February 2002
The 2nd Orchestra performing 'The Wonderful Adventures of Sindbad the Sailor' in the Royal Albert Hall during their performance there on 2nd February 2002.
Each year the Barnardo's organises an event at the Royal Albert Hall in London to help raise funds for the charity. In 2002 both BYPE and the 2nd Orchestra were invited to be part of this event, and played during the 2nd half of the concert. The first half of the concert was provided by two theatre & dance schools from Berkshire.
The concert was compered by Alex Lovell, seen here interviewing BYPE musical director Lee Stanley at the end of their performance. Alex is well-known to many children as Little Alex on Playhouse Disney on Sky TV.
BYPE played two samba pieces while the 2nd Orchestra played Walton's 'Orb & Sceptre' followed by Douglas Coombes' ''The Wonderful Adventures of Sindbad the Sailor", which was conducted by the composer himself, and narrated by Carole Lindsay-Douglas. The concert concluded with the Second orchestra performing Elgar's "Pomp & Circumstance March No.4 - Land of Hope & Glory".
