County Youth Orchestra

During recent years the Youth Orchestra has toured widely visiting countries such as Cyprus, Germany and Spain, and has also performed in many prestigious venues in the UK.

County Second Orchestra

The Second Orchestra regularly visits the National Festival of Youth Orchestras, held in Edinburgh during August, at the same time as the official Edinburgh Festivals.

County Third Orchestra

When many students come into the Third Orchestra, it will be the first time in their musical careers that they have experienced all the elements of the orchestra coming together under a single baton i.e. strings, woodwind, brass and percussion.

County Fourth Orchestra

Fourth Orchestra aims to balance hard work and standards of excellence with a good sense of fun and enjoyment in music making.

County Junior Strings

The Junior Strings group is for string players who are of approximately grade two or equivalent standard and for many string players this will be their first involvement in an orchestra situation.

Chamber Music Courses

These Chamber Music Courses take place over three days in the Autumn and Spring half-term holidays, and are the most heavily subscribed courses that take place.

The Bedfordshire Youth Percussion Ensemble plays a tremendous variety of music from Latin, classical, popular, ethnic & jazz through to modern atonal compositions.

The Bedfordshire Youth Jazz Orchestra specialise in big band repertoire, with an emphasis on music by greats such as Duke Ellington and Fats Waller.

Chamber Orchestra

The Bedfordshire Youth Chamber Orchestra was formed by students who had benefited from the Music Service, and wished to continue playing together when they had left the Youth Orchestra.

The North Beds Youth Chamber Orchestra meets regularly during term-time which allows many students to have more contact time with their tutors, over and above their usual single lesson per week.
